Coalition Defense Intelligence Service Field Elements are men and women chose from among planetary infantry corps who are elevated, trained, and specialized in covert operations, HVT escort & rescue, HVT elimination, and 'clean-up' operations.
Typical, ground-unit size is a 5-man cell. Frontier outposts typically have between 4 and 8 cells. Half of present cells keep a low profile at all times unless activated by CDIS.
All units also answer to the station officer in charge.
| Rank | Role | Desc. |
|---|---|---|
| Captain | Cell Leader | Mission oversight, diplomatic liaison, and tactical command. |
| 1st Lieutenant | Medical Officer | Advanced trauma care (CSM) and field surgery. |
| 2nd Lieutenant | Intel/Comms | Signal interceptions, encrypted uplinks, and real-time data analysis. |
| Warrant Officer | Variable | Varies between munition specialists and depends on mission. |
| Warrant Officer | Marksman | Over-watch/precision fire |
Uniform
Uniform and Combat Gear is determined by mission.
'low profile' is the standard. Operators utilize rugged civilian clothing in layers to blend into local populations while remaining combat effective.
low-profile armor is typically light (if any). An olive-drab bump helmet and lightweight ammo-rigs are often all the units use. Favoring speed and maneuverability to armored but slower movement.
Armament
As with uniform, mission typically dictates armament. Though typically the standard issue for on planet operations is a 7mm HPC carbine while station/ship operations typically call for 5mm HPC SMGs.
Marksmen are always equipped with a reach weapon. Typically semi-auto, long range shots. They don't typically use the 12mm Rail-assisted HPC rifle, opting instead for a 9.1mm HPC DMR.
